Participation in the ICED 2026 International Conference at the University of Salamanca (Spain)

From 23–27 June 2026, Professor Dimitri Japaridze took part in the 2026 International Conference of the International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED). The conference was held at the University of Salamanca, Spain. The visit was carried out within the framework of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia’s Fundamental Research Project No. FR-23-20196-1.

During the conference, he took part in plenary and thematic sessions. These covered current developments in higher education, innovative approaches to teaching and learning, curriculum improvement, and quality assurance. The conference offered an important international platform. It allowed participants to exchange academic experience and strengthen professional ties among universities and researchers worldwide.

On 25 June 2026, a presentation was delivered within a dedicated symposium. It was entitled “Matching Higher Education Curricula with Labour Market Needs: The Case of Georgia.” The presentation was prepared by Dimitri Japaridze, Shorena Maghlakelidze, Ekaterine Shaverdashvili, and Davit Tutberidze, and was delivered by Dimitri Japaridze. It drew on findings from the research project “Over-Education and Labour Market Mismatch in Georgia: Challenges and Ways to Reduce Them,” funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. The presentation shared key results from qualitative research conducted across five Georgian universities. It looked at how closely higher education curricula match labour market needs. It also pointed to the need for stronger practical components in study programmes, greater employer engagement, and further curriculum development.

The participation in the conference helped exchange international academic experience. It also led to new professional contacts and opened up avenues for future collaboration.
