On 16 and 25 May, 2025, Professor Dimitri Japaridze, Director of the Institute of Economics and Business, held a series of meetings with:
- His Excellency Hyundu Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea;
- Mr Nam Yongde, First Secretary of the Embassy;
- Mr Chi Won Chang, Director of the European Affairs Bureau within the Eurasian Department of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- Ms Woo Suyun, Second Secretary.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between Georgia and the Republic of Korea in the fields of economics and business, with particular attention given to the role of academic institutions in this process.
A preliminary agreement was reached regarding the development of a joint research initiative to formulate a strategy for economic cooperation between the two countries. The research will be conducted by scholars from Ilia State University’s Institute of Economics and Business, in collaboration with researchers from universities in the Republic of Korea.
